Jay has beautiful floating movement with good extension and drive. She has produced outstanding foals for us, all with her movement. She is one of those rare mares that improves on herself and the stallion she is put to.
She is also a height reducer with her first foal, Ebony, maturing at 31" (the sire was 34").
Her second foal to us was also very small, 28" at 1 year, with fine legs and the most gorgeous head (see Progeny Page).
Her third (2007) foal is a little Jay without the spots and very refined. So far we have kept both of her fillies because of their quality.
Jay's sire, Happy Appy (imp USA), travelled between the USA and Australia for many years siring foals. At the height of his career (in the 1990's), his stud fee was $3000.
America eventually bought Happy Appy back, a very rare occurrence in miniature horse breeding.
The sire of Happy Appy was the great Orion Light Vant Huttenest, the sire and grand-sire of many of todays famous horses and on which many studs base their breeding.
Jay's pedigree is filled with appaloosas but as yet Jay has not produced, for us, anything but solid colours. We are still hoping!!
